Play your game's web build on the phone

Forward a port with -L and open it in your browser, then learn when -R and -D are the right tool.

Step by step

  1. Add a rule to the host

    In the host editor, open the Tunnels block, then Port forwarding, and tap Add rule.

    Where: HostTunnelsPort forwardingAdd rule

  2. Write a -L rule

    Local port 8060 to localhost:8060 on the server. Whatever the dev box serves on port 8060 now opens on your phone, privately, over your SSH connection.

    $ -L 8060:localhost:8060
  3. Start it and open it

    Start the rule (or let it start with the connection). A running rule shows the real port it got; tap open and your browser loads the page.

Good to know

  • -R does the reverse: a port on the server reaches something on your phone's side.
  • -D opens a SOCKS5 proxy on the phone for apps that take a proxy setting.
  • A forwarded port opens only on your phone, so nothing else on your Wi-Fi can reach it.
  • Port 0 lets the system pick a free port; the rule then shows which one it got.
Screens from the app. The studio, its game and every host in them are made up.
